Stellensuche auf amerikanisch

People believe weird things--like it takes seven years for your body to digest chewing gum or the devil can steal your soul when you sneeze. So, it is not surprising that people believe these common job-seeking myths.
  1. Long resumes are impressive. Clean, readable one-page documents are best.
  2. The Internet is the best place to look for jobs. Professional associations, job fairs, and professors and career counselors are better.
  3. Entry-level salaries will be sufficient to pay back student loans. What planet are you from and do you really know what you owe?
  4. An MBA always brings in big bucks. Always is akin to "never say never."
  5. There is no point in applying for jobs in the summer. Find another excuse.
  6. If you don't like your boss, quit. You can't run away from disagreeable people all your life.
  7. It's illegal for an employer to (insert almost anything). You are probably wrong. Employers have a lot of leeway in hiring.
