Sind Ihre Ferien zu kurz gewesen?

Zu diesem Thema schreibt The Wall Street Journal vom 15. August 2007:
Vacation Deflation: Breaks Get Shorter
American workers do not take enough vacation. Thirty-five percent (35%) of employed adults are not taking all their vacation days, according to Expedia.com. Only 14% take a full two-week vacation. Many employees squeeze in a long weekend here and there. How about Jacqueline who flew to Barcelona on a Thursday evening, returned to New York on Monday, and worked a full day on Tuesday. She probably spent some of her "vacation" on her BlackBerry just to make sure the office didn't implode while she was gone. No wonder burnout is a problem. No wonder some employers are now encouraging workers to take their vacation time to the extent some are even shutting down for a week to force white-collar workers to take time off.
Übrigens: Wenn Sie in den USA wohnen würden, hätten Sie im ersten Jahr Ihres Engagements gar kein Recht auf Ferien …
